Blessed Virgin Mary and Christ Child Banner, St. Mark’s Church, Philadelphia
Join us for a very special Dean’s Forum at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, Garden City, NY looking at the use of cosmic symbols in the church’s vestments. Textile historian Marianna Garthwaite Klaiman will bring this amazing area of church history alive with wonderful examples of how stars, comets, the moon and the sun have all been used throughout history on the church’s sacred vestments. She will explore the meanings of these symbols as part of our liturgy and spiritual understanding of the Divine.
